We are based right at the heart of North Pindos, the biggest national park of mainland Greece, surrounded by high mountains, deep gorges, rivers, vast forests and picturesque villages. The area is famous for its flaura and fauna and offers amazing hiking trails. We at Mountain Goat, have a passion for outdoor activities and we enjoy sharing it with you.
Not many people know this remote mountain land in Greece. Zagori villages with their unique architecture, connected by stone bridges, Vikos gorge and the UNESCO geopark, Smolikas the second highest peak of Greece and Valia Calda, a place of pure untouched nature, are the areas we organize our daily and multi-day tours. We discover the area hiking along ancient trails that the nomadic shepherds still use today.
From the deep valleys to the highest peaks or through beautiful quiet villages, sipping wine on a nice veranda, we can organize the perfect hiking tour for you, your friends, and your family!

Our Activities
Hiking
Hiking Epirus is the best way to discover meter by meter all the area’s secrets. Flowers, medicine herbs, wildlife, architecture plus culture, are some of the things a hiker will, and should, see in these unique areas.
There is a great network of paths, in these areas. This makes hiking very easy from point to point, village to village, without the use of transportation! And when transportation is needed, we take care of it as part of the tour package.
Sightseeing
A great way to see the area if you are passing through with a few hours to spare is to have a guided sightseeing tour. You discover the biggest Zagori highlights in one day, driving through amazing scenic roads overlooking the Vikos gorge, visiting the famous arched bridges, and then enjoying a tasty lunch looking out at amazing views!
Visit local wineries and farms, meet the local way of life, listen to the sounds of nature and smell the thin Greek mountain fresh air. Add to that quaint historic villages, good quality food from local produce and hospitable people and you’ll be thrilled you joined our tours.
Snowshoeing
Greece is not a country famous for its winter activities. We at Mountain Goat, however, never rest during the winter. We love showing you around and the best way to do that is to go out on a winter hike with snowshoes.
We organise daily snowshoe walks in the area of Zagori, around the Vradeto plateau, above the impressive cliffs of Vikos gorge where almost everything is covered in snow.
Every year in February we are out at our 8-day Pindos snowshoe traverse tour, one of the best winter hikes you will ever experience. Beautiful views, great snow, peaceful mountains and, most of all, welcoming people and enjoyable nights in the most remote villages of Greece!
Ski Touring
A fantastic way of discovering the Pindos mountains is with skis. Join our multi day Pindos mountains ski tour and get a taste of Mediterranean powder! These mountains often have an amazing quality of snow and are rarely visited by skiers, so most of the time you are on your own enjoying first tracks.
In the winter you get to see the real village life and spend some time with the welcoming locals who like to share stories and always invite us in for a drink or two!
We have found that over the last few years more and more people want to try this exotic ski destination and the feedback tells us they don't regret it.

If you’re not a hiker expert, I do recommend to take a guide. He gives you the correct speed in order to manage arriving first at the Katafigio and then to Drakolimni. It was difficult but the view and the whole route is amazing.

We did 2 days of walking in and around the Vikos Gorge which is such a beautiful place. Despite being rather less fit than we should have been Makis was patient, helpful and informative. He organised a great guest house for our stay, great walks, lovely picnics and a wonderful trip on the Voidamatis river. Our age range was 18-63 and we all loved every second and have wonderful memories. Such a special time during this strange year. Thank you , Makis.
